On January 15, 2025, the Office of Planning, Research, and Evaluation within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services published a NextGen report that discusses findings from the descriptive and cost study of the Bridges program.
The report is part of the NextGen Project, a three-year randomized controlled trial administered by Mathematica. In June 2024, Bridges completed the process of enrolling 933 participants in the trial. Half of the participants were randomly assigned to a treatment group and the other half to a control group, allowing the study to measure the impact of the Bridges supported-employment model on employment outcomes for young adults with disabilities.
Independent federal evaluation of this scale is rare for community-based supported-employment programs. The descriptive and cost study is the first of multiple anticipated NextGen reports drawing on the Bridges trial data.
