These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of bridgestowork.org and related pages, features, applications and services (“Services”) operated by Bridges from School to Work (“Bridges,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). By using our Services, you agree to these Terms, which are a binding legal contract between you and Bridges. If you do not agree, you are not authorized to use our Services.

Our use of personal information you provide through the Services is also governed by our Privacy Statement, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.

About Bridges

Bridges from School to Work is a nonprofit organization (formerly known as the Marriott Foundation for People with Disabilities) that connects young adults with disabilities to meaningful employment through partnerships with schools and employers. Nothing in the Services is a guarantee of eligibility to participate in our programs, employment outcomes, or program services. Additional terms may apply to participation in our programs.

Permitted Use

You represent that you are at least 18 years of age, or between 13 and 17 years of age and using the Services with the consent and supervision of your parent or legal guardian. If you are younger than 13 years of age, you are not permitted to use the Services.

You may use the Services for personal, non-commercial informational purposes only. You may download and print reasonable copies of material from the Services for your own reference, provided that you:

  • Do not remove any copyright, trademark, or other proprietary notices.
  • Do not modify the material.
  • Do not redistribute the material or use the material commercially without our prior written permission.

Intellectual Property

All content on the Services (including text, graphics, logos, images, video, and software) is owned by Bridges or its licensors and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws. The Bridges name, logo, and related marks are our trademarks. We do not grant you any license or right to use any of these materials except as expressly permitted in these Terms.

User Submissions and Communications

If you send us feedback, suggestions, questions, or other communications through the Services, you grant Bridges a non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable, transferable, sublicensable, worldwide license to use, reproduce, adapt, distribute, perform, display and incorporate that content for any lawful purpose, including program development and marketing. You represent and warrant that such content does not infringe any third party’s rights and that you have all necessary rights to grant us that license. Do not send us anything you consider confidential. You specifically consent to our use of all information you provide to respond to your inquiry and to communicate with you about our activities. We will handle any personal information you include in accordance with our Privacy Statement.

Prohibited Conduct

You agree not to:

  • Interfere with the proper functioning of the Services or place an unreasonable load on our infrastructure.
  • Use automated tools (e.g., bots, scrapers, spiders) to access or copy content, except for standard search engine indexing.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any portion of the Services, our servers, or any data we hold.
  • Upload or transmit viruses, malware, or any other malicious code.
  • Use the Services to harass, defraud, impersonate, or harm others.
  • Use the Services for any purpose that is unlawful or prohibited by these Terms.
  • Access the Services using any interface other than our standard user interface.
  • Maintain any link to the Services that we ask you to remove, in our sole discretion.
  • Frame the Services or their content, make the Services or their content available via in-line links, otherwise display the Services or their content in connection with an unauthorized trademark, or do anything that could falsely suggest a relationship between Bridges and any third party.
  • Disassemble, decompile or otherwise reverse engineer any software or other technology used to provide the Services or available through the Services.

Accuracy of Information

We take reasonable care to keep information on the Services accurate, but we do not warrant that all information is complete, current, or error-free. Program details, outcomes data, contact information, and event information may change without notice. We reserve the right to correct or update content at any time.

Donations

Donations made through the Services are processed by Stripe and are governed by Stripe’s terms and privacy policy in addition to ours. By submitting a donation, you authorize charging the payment method you provide in the amount specified. Bridges from School to Work is recognized as exempt from federal income tax under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code; donations are generally tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law, but we do not provide tax, legal, or financial advice. Please consult your own tax advisor. Donations are non-refundable except where required by law or where a clear error has occurred. Contact us at info@bridgestowork.org if you believe your donation was made in error or as a result of unauthorized use of your payment method. We reserve the right to approve or deny refund requests in our sole discretion.

Third-Party Links and Services

The Services may link to third-party sites and services we do not control, such as donor portals, payment processors, social media platforms, and partner organizations. We are not responsible for the content, privacy practices, or availability of those sites or services. Linking does not imply endorsement.

SMS/Text Messaging Terms

Program Name: Bridges from School to Work SMS Alerts

By opting in to receive SMS alerts from us, you consent to receive text messages from Bridges related to program updates, appointment reminders, job opportunity notifications, and other information relevant to your participation. Message and data rates may apply. Message frequency varies. Consent is not a condition of participating in any Bridges program.

Reply STOP at any time to unsubscribe, or HELP for assistance. Additional details on how we handle SMS data are in our Privacy Statement.

Disclaimer of Warranties

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE SERVICES AND ALL CONTENT ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICES WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, SECURE, OR ERROR-FREE.

Your sole remedy for dissatisfaction with the Services or any content is to stop using them. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of implied warranties, so some of the above may not apply to you.

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Bridges, its directors, officers, employees, volunteers, and affiliates will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages arising out of or in connection with your use of, or inability to use, the Services, including loss of data, loss of revenue, or loss of goodwill, even if advised of the possibility of such damages. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold Bridges harmless from any claims, damages, or expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising out of your violation of these Terms, your misuse of the Services, your violation of any applicable law, or any content you submit through the Services.

Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Maryland, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute arising out of or related to these Terms or the Services will be resolved exclusively in the state courts located in Montgomery County, Maryland, or in federal court for Montgomery County, Maryland, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time by posting revised terms on the Services. When we do, we will include an effective date different from the one above. The updated terms will be effective from the date provided. Your continued use of the Services after the changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
