About this program

Bridges Los Angeles is based at 1150 S. Olive Street in downtown Los Angeles and serves young adults ages 17 to 26 across the LA metro area. The program partners with Compton Unified School District to identify students who can benefit from career readiness support and to coordinate transition planning with school staff.

Founded in 1992, Bridges Los Angeles is one of the longest-running sites in the Bridges network. For more than three decades, the program has placed young adults with disabilities into competitive employment across the Los Angeles labor market and supported them through their first year on the job.

The Los Angeles program is CARF-accredited for Community Employment Services: Employment Supports and Job Development, an independent certification against the field's standards for community-based employment services. Bridges Los Angeles partners with the California Department of Rehabilitation through its Transition Partnership Program to connect young adults to employment and on-the-job support.

Like every Bridges site, the Los Angeles program is free for participants and their families. A Youth Employment Specialist works one-on-one with each young adult to identify career goals, develop interviewing skills, connect with employers, create a résumé, apply for jobs, get a job, and succeed in a job. After a placement, the same specialist supports the new hire through the first year of employment, coordinating with the employer's HR team and following up at 30, 60, and 90-day milestones. The program is funded through grants, donations, and corporate giving. There is no tuition, and no fee to the employer.

The Los Angeles office is open Monday through Friday, 8:30am to 5:00pm.
