One year at AMC, and trained on the box office
Alex came to Bridges through a Brookline High school trip and was hired at AMC Boston Common as a crew member two months later. A year in, after a raise and box-office training, he plans to stay.
Alexander Frois first walked into the Bridges Boston office on a school trip with his teachers and classmates from Brookline High School in September 2023. He started working with his Youth Employment Specialist, Sandra, shortly after.
Alex was interested in training for a welding career down the line, but he wanted to start with an entry-level job in the meantime. Over two months, Sandra helped him apply for retail and customer-service roles, including AMC Theaters at Boston Common.
AMC invited him to do a phone screening. Sandra prepped him for it. He aced the phone screening and the in-person interview that followed, and was offered the crew member position.
Alex's two primary roles are greeter, scanning tickets and interacting with customers, and usher, keeping the theaters and common areas clean. From day one, he liked being able to alternate between tasks.
After several months at AMC, Alex received a raise and trained on ticket sales in the box office. He told Sandra he loves the job and plans to stay. He talks about the independence he has gained from working, and the growth in his social skills and problem-solving along the way.
