Earning Homer Awards as a lot associate at Home Depot Oakland at Home Depot

Ben is 21, on the autism spectrum, and works as a lot associate at Home Depot in Oakland.

Before Home Depot, he spent 90 days at a grocery fulfillment center, but the quota and pace were too stressful. His Bridges Youth Employment Specialist and his mother, Akilah, identified Home Depot as a better match.

His managers adjusted his schedule with shorter shifts and assigned duties he enjoys: organizing carts, hand trucks, and flatbeds.

Co-workers have given Ben Homer Awards recognizing his customer service and the way he reflects company values. He has grown more confident week by week in his interactions with teammates and customers.
