Participant Story· Ritz-Carlton Philadelphia

16 years at the Ritz-Carlton, plus a clothing brand, a podcast, and Vogue Italia

Demetrius started at the Ritz-Carlton Philadelphia in October 2010, in a role created specifically for Bridges youth. Sixteen years later, he's in Guest Relations, and he's also a registered LLC, a freelance stylist, a Vogue Italia feature, and the host of a podcast.

Demetrius Terrell graduated from Murrel Dobbins CTE High School in 2010. After his first job as a cashier at Fresh Grocer, he was hired at the Ritz-Carlton Philadelphia on October 26, 2010, into a role created specifically for Bridges youth, Housekeeping Aide-Special.

He outgrew it fast. Turndown Attendant. Then a customer-facing role he interviewed for three times before being hired: Front Desk. Then his dream role, Guest Relations, where he's been thriving ever since.

Sixteen years in, Demetrius is still at the Ritz-Carlton. He's earned Marriott/Ritz-Carlton Five Star of the Quarter twice and is a recent recipient of the Philadelphia Bridges Inspiration Award. He's also been an ambassador for the Bridges Alumni Network for eight years, speaking on three panels, recording grant-proposal testimonials, and just joining the new Creative Impact Circle advisory council.

Outside the hotel, Demetrius runs a parallel creative career. He's a freelance stylist with a registered-LLC clothing brand called TRIIUZ, funded with savings from the Ritz-Carlton job, featured in four Philly Fashion Week shows. His podcast, Different Moods, launched January 2025. His work has appeared in Vogue Italia and Elle Russia.

Outside of work, Demetrius is a first-time homeowner.

At the Ritz-Carlton, Demetrius invited a children's book author to do a Read-Aloud for the kids staying at the hotel. He noticed a colleague struggling personally and quietly engaged to get him support.
