He walked to the interview
Elvis came to Bridges hard to read, comprehension challenges, late to school every day. The first big surprise was when he turned up at his interview alone. He's been at Lucky Strike three months and counting.
When his Youth Employment Specialist first met Elvis Sanchez in July 2025, the assessment was hard. Comprehension issues made it difficult to gauge his strengths. His school reported he was late every day.
His Specialist talked to his director, his colleagues, and Elvis's school counselors, and decided the first thing to work on was time management. Not because Elvis couldn't work. Because Elvis needed to be able to show up.
Elvis's mother was supportive throughout. She came to every meeting in person. That made it harder to assess whether Elvis could travel independently, until he showed up to his Lucky Strike interview alone, walking to the venue himself.
He got the job.
Three months in, Elvis is thriving as a dishwasher at Lucky Strike Entertainment. He's learned new skills, connected with his coworkers, and the next milestone on the list is his food handler's license.
