Steven is a huge part of our success and it's a pleasure to work with him and to call him my friend.

Steven Chew searched out Bridges on his own, an unusual route into a program that typically finds participants through outreach.

Highly motivated, Steven spent a year completing Bridges training while overcoming language, cultural, and social challenges. In a competitive selection process, he was offered a job as a food service attendant at the San Francisco Zoo.

Over his first year on the job, Steven had perfect attendance, received a pay raise, and increased his work schedule from three to five days a week.

At the 2016 Bridges gala, Steven received the Stephen G. Marriott Leadership Award. He is saving toward the day he can move into his own place.
