From cashier to Special Services Associate, six months in

Dylan started at the South Bay Home Depot as a part-time cashier in April 2025. Six months later, he was promoted to Special Services Associate, and got a $1-an-hour raise.

Boston, MA

Dylan Bednarik joined Bridges right after high school graduation, working with his Youth Employment Specialist starting January 2025. He applied to several retail openings, and in April was hired as a part-time cashier at the South Bay Home Depot in Dorchester.

Cashier training was overwhelming at first. He shared that with his Youth Employment Specialist. But his fellow employees showed him the ropes, and he got the hang of things faster than he expected.

Six months in, Dylan was promoted to Special Services Associate. The new role has him at the customer service desk, handling online orders, helping customers in person, taking calls. He got a $1-an-hour raise with the promotion.

He likes the location. South Bay is close enough to home that he rides his electric scooter when the weather's nice. He's quick to mention the breakroom is amazing, and that the store ranks #1 in safety and cleanliness in the district.
